After 38 years, CCCADI remains one of the most important cultural institutions in NYC. Connecting people of African descent and working to preserve our rich history is a challenging, yet beautiful task. In September, we broke ground on the 125th Street Firehouse in East Harlem/El Barrio planned to open as our new home next fall and redefine the “bridge” connecting African descendants in East and West Harlem and communities all around us. And, with the lack of access to arts and cultural enrichment in traditional education settings, CCCADI remains actively engaged in public education focused on creating platforms for our voices and positive images to connect young people to our beautiful and meaningful history.
