On Monday, May 2nd, the Newark AntiViolence Coalition will join forces with residents from across to demand Jobs for Newark Residents at Port Newark!
Participants are to meet at Newark City Hall at 10am to board busses to Port Newark for an 11am rally.
The City of Newark and Mayor Ras Baraka are sponsoring the buses and the rally.
For decades, economic development at Port Newark has remained in the shadows of community view and oversite. The time has come for that development in Newark to be accountable and responsible to the citizens of Newark!
“Economic violence is something we take just as serious as street violence,” said Zayid Muhammad, media advocate for the NAVC.
“To be sure, if there was more meaningful work for Newark residents, there would a lot less of this violence we are constantly battling.”
