The Penn Museum houses one of the largest collections of Egyptian and Nubian material in the United States, numbering in excess of 42,000 items. Assembled through nearly a century of archaeological research, this collection is unusual is that the vast majority of the objects were obtained through archaeological investigations in Egypt and entered the museum through a division of finds with Egypt's Antiquities Service.

Featured in the museum's collection is the largest extant portion of a Kemetic palace.  The intricately carved structure was built by King Merneptah, the 13th son and successor of Rameses the Great.  The glyphs on the massive pillars include the controversial image which has been conjectured by some to be the world's first electric lamp.  The museum's collection also includes a wonderful roster of pieces from Akhetaten (The horizon of Aten), the city built by the Heretic King, Akhenaten.

We will accomplish 3 objectives on this tour:
1) Describe the esoteric wisdom encoded in Kemetic symbols
    and architecture
2) Develop an intimate portrayal of our ancient African ancestors
3) Describe the 5 major periods of Ancient Egyptian History and Art

Your tour will run approximately 2 hours and will cost $20 for adults, and $15 for students.
