Fourth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the Bronx Local Tavern Defies Convention and Raises Thousands for Charity

On March 17, 2016, Irish tavern and cultural landmark, An Beal Bocht Café will host their Fourth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade. This event provides a unique opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate and to help those in need.

Bronx, NY, March 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- On March 17, 2016, Irish tavern and cultural landmark, An Beal Bocht Café will host their Fourth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade.

This event provides a unique opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate and to help those in need.

The day-long festivities will begin at Noon on March 17, 2016. As in previous years, various bagpipe, fife and drum groups and other Irish-themed performers are expected to appear. Traditional Irish food and drink also help make the experience a true, culturally authentic celebration. That evening, internationally acclaimed recording stars "Morning Star", Mary Courtney and John Redmond, will provide authentic, traditional Irish music and set the tone for the parade which steps off at around 8 pm.

Funds raised will be donated to two well-respected, local organizations:
Since 1990, The Irish Volunteers for the Homeless, a local program, has worked to help the hungry and homeless in the area. The program is run by the, Aisling Irish Community Center.

Since 1976, My Sisters' Place has worked to end violence in intimate relationships and combat the effects of domestic violence and human trafficking on women, men, and children throughout Westchester County.

The precious, extremely scarce "feet" of the parade route will be available to be sponsored by individuals, groups or organizations. To date, the annual event has raised approximately $4,000 for charity.

This year's parade Grand Marshal is community leader Helen Boylan, who has been a tireless champion of human rights for over five decades. Ms. Boylan is a "Founding Mother" of My Sisters' Place, one of the two organizations that will benefit from funds raised by the parade.

Despite the physical demands of last year's staggering 47 foot length of the parade route and after much animated discussion, the decision was taken to retain the full course length for 2016. For health and safety reasons, the parade will feature multiple rest periods to ensure that all participants will be able to complete the entire length of the parade route.

In addition, as was the case in years past, a wide variety of beverages will be available to ensure that dehydration is held at bay during the grueling exertion of the parade-goers.

Sponsorship Levels:

Green Foot Level: $20 contribution
A Green colored foot will be displayed above the bar.

Green Toe Level: $5 contribution
A Green colored "toe" will be displayed above the bar.

Silver Foot Level: $100 contribution
A Silver colored foot will be placed in a prominent location. Contributors will be recognized during the festivities and will be thanked on social media.

Gold Foot Level: $500 contribution
A Gold colored foot will be placed in the most prominent location. Contributors will be recognized during the festivities and will be thanked on social media.

Note: Co-owner of An Beal Bocht, Mr. Tony Caffrey, has reiterated his stance that blimp coverage of this year's parade will not be provided. "No. I've said it before and it is still my position. 'Twould be too much. Besides, our pilots may well wish to have a beverage or two so we think it best all around that we don't put them at the controls of a blimp again this year."

To quote Ms. Bronagh Harmon, grande dame of the café: "Ah, a fine time will be had by all. And, to be sure, there will be no bleedin' unicorns or six-foot tall, overweight men in leprechaun costumes, I can guarantee that."
