There is something rotten in the state of Denmark” - Shakespeare

The North Atlantic  Treaty Alliance (NATO) was founded in 1949 as defense against the Soviet Union. There were 12 founding members consisting of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Although the Soviet Union  disintegrated in 1991, the members of NATO has risen to 30, which include : Greece, Turkey, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland), Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro and North Macedonia. In addition, Sweden and Finland have applied for membership.

This is a powerful alliance of white countries. Some of these countries were colonial powers who dominated and exploited several non-white countries. These colonies have never really recovered from the devastation of colonialism and some even now are experiencing meddling in their affairs from their former colonial masters. I am sure the domination of the white colonial masters led to a feeling of white superiority over the non-white indigenous population, some of which continues even today.

In the absence of the Soviet Union, it was not exactly clear what was the justification for the continued existence and expansion of NATO. The war in the Ukraine makes it obvious that aim of NATO was to contain Russia. But NATO has usurped the role of the United Nations, flaunting its considerable militarily might all over the world. It destroyed the most advanced African state, Libya. In doing this NATO was carrying out the wishes of the US. This is not surprising considering that the US has considerable influence over the other members. The destruction of Libya is a warning to non-white countries.

America dominates NATO and America has enlisted other white nations to dominate non-white countries all over the world. It is estimated that the US killed over 3 million Vietnamese in that brutal war. As if the American troops were not sufficient, the US exerted pressure so that they were bolstered by troops from Australia, Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines among others.

In the US war with Iraq, they bolstered their troops with forces from the UK, Spain, Poland and Australia. Why would these countries join with the US in this war based on lies to the UN which killed an estimate of as high as over  one million Iraqis?

In the US war launched against Afghanistan, they were joined by troops from Canada, UK, Germany Netherlands and Italy among others. It is estimated that there were over 200,00 deaths, but there will be lots more as the US froze over $9 billion of Afghan money leaving them unable to provide food for their own people.

Of course, in America’s backyard, the US has supported every government run by the white elites and opposed, undermined or even overthrown governments of black,  brown or indigenous people. Who can forget the US support of Chilean dictator Pinochet, or Samoza of Nicaragua, among many others. You get the picture?

But, the US do not kill these black and brown people by war alone. Sanctions against Venezuela killed over 40,000 innocent men, women and children in just one year. And guess who joined in the sanctions? The white countries of the European Union, Canada and even Switzerland. Let us not forget 60 years of the illegal blockade of Cuba in which the latest vote against this by the UN General Assembly was 184 to 2. It is a miracle Cuba has survived.

The only country that voted with the US was Israel. But, why Israel? First of all, that vote had nothing to do with Cuba. Israel was just rewarding the US for its support of its systematic extermination of the Palestinian people.

Just what is going on here? America is already impregnable. So, why does America need to expand NATO? Isn’t it enough that the US has over 700 military bases in thirty five countries? Isn’t  it enough that she has CIA agents swarming all over the world?  Isn’t her crippling illegal sanctions not enough?

To be sure America is the dominant leader of this powerful alliance of white countries. But, this leader in the words of Rev. Martin Luther King is “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world”. No country in the world has deliberately caused more suffering in the world that America by their foreign policy. Alas, even Nobel Prize winning President Obama made virtually no difference. Then along comes Trump. Then, this powerful white military alliance is headed by a white racist who predictably increases the suffering of innocent people in certain non-white countries, some of which he calls “shithole countries”. Since he left the top, very little change has occurred and he remains a very formidable  influence.

With this type of American leadership of NATO, the future is bleak for poor non-white countries. Which will be the next Iraq? Which will be the next Afghanistan? Which will be the next Libya?
