Let’s face it, America’s foreign policy has brought more misery, death and destruction to many countries than any other by far. It is this foreign policy that has brought to power a cruel, racist, egomaniac as Donald Trump  as president of the United States.

America’s military budget exceeds the total of the ten countries just below her in military budget size. America flaunts this power. America displays paranoia perceiving all sorts of “threats to America” such as from little Venezuela. Get real! No country would dare attack America.  It is time to shed that paranoia and work towards improving relations with all countries including perceived enemies. So far, we have been lucky as America’s wars have taken place abroad. We have not had to deal with our home bombed, our hospitals, schools and churches bombed, thousands of our citizens killed, like the countries we have attacked.

But, we do not bring misery to the world through military alone. America also uses sanctions even though they are illegal. US sanctions against Venezuela killed an estimated 40,000 innocent people in its first year. The US have imposed these arbitrary sanctions on about 25 countries. Conversely, the US is the only country with sweeping sanctions against other countries.

Both Democrats and Republicans support this cruel foreign policy. As a matter of fact, I have been forced to vote as a Democrat for the lesser of two evils for president. Evil predominates while good does not stand a chance. The presidential candidate for peace, George McGovern, was defeated by the largest landslide in recent presidential history.  

For God’s sake, let’s give peace a chance instead of being the greatest obstacle to world peace. Instead of being the most feared and hated country in the world, let us become the most loved and respected. Even better than peace, let’s spread goodwill to all instead of being the world’s bully. What a wonderful world we would create!
