South African Home Affairs Minister, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who is vying for the post of the African Union Commission.

 

  Two people are locked in a battle to see who emerges victorious after the African Union leaders vote either on July 15th or 16th as to who becomes the Chairperson of the African Union Commission during the 19th session of the African Heads of State and Governments Summit, which started on the 9th of July and will end on the 16th.  The incumbent chairperson, Dr. Jean Ping, is fighting to win and stay as the chairperson and is being challenged by South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former wife of South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma.  The last election in January ended in a deadlock.
Just imagine if one of the north Africans were running for the chairperson’s office, and uttered the sentence, “I am not Francophone or Anglophone, I am Arab,” the whole continent would have been in an uproar. (Read more)
