The Magnificent Protestors

The peaceful protestors of the killing of unarmed black males by police are magnificent. In addition to dealing with these horrible murders, they must face criticism from a variety of sources intent on silencing them.  From the biased media is understandable and expected. But, from friends in high places, especially in response to the recent  shooting of two policemen, must be alarming. The killing of these two policemen by a madman has become a pretext to silence protests.  The fact of the matter is that these peaceful protests are protecting police.

For, there are those angered by the police killings who believe that peaceful protests are a waste of time and totally ineffective. They believe in the good ol’ American tradition of meeting violence with violence - an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life. America responded to the 911 attack by destroying a whole country and killing thousands of innocent people.  This is the American way, unfortunately. Thank God, the peaceful protestors of the police killings did not take this path.

Make no mistake, it is the bad cops who have poisoned the reputation of the police. It is the unjust system that has put targets on the backs of policemen.  It is pillaging outside infiltrators, posing as protestors including undercover cops, that  have put cops lives at risk. Meanwhile, as black  survivors grieve, some  killer cops are rewarded by thousands of dollars raised on the internet.  At least murdered cops can count on justice, but black males must continue to live in fear as they face the constant threat of injustice, an injustice that could take their very life too.
