Award-winning filmmakers Stafford and Judy Bailey, who created, produced and
directed the wildly popular film Blacks Without Borders: chasing the American
Dream in South Africa that premiered on Showtime teams up with Samad Davis a celebrated
filmmaker and co-creator/producer of the new international, competitive reality
series The Spirited Actor – The search for Africa’s Next Hollywood Star to
produce the highly anticipated new docu-series that follows the lives of
dynamic, entrepreneurial, globetrotters from all over the African diaspora
(anywhere people of African decent are) who don’t see boundaries or borders as
obstacles but rather opportunities to relentlessly bridge the financial and
social gaps through their works on the continent of Africa.

Contrary to
popular beliefs and stereotypes of hopelessness and despair western media has
placed on Africa over the decades, Africa actually is a major economic force on
the world stage. Seven of the world’s ten fastest growing economies are in
Africa, TIME Magazine calls it the last investment frontier and China plans to
invest 5 billion dollars there by 2014. That makes the world’s second- largest
continent the ideal place to shoot this new docu-series.

Blacks Without
Borders – The Series follows the lives of globetrotting trailblazers with
remarkably diverse backgrounds. They’re entrepreneurs, royalty, fashion
designers, entertainers, humanitarians and activists who risk everything to
follow their passion that they hope leads to a brighter future. For most, just
the idea of living out ones fantasy in a foreign country or daring to do what
most around them wouldn’t dream of doing, is extremely appealing. The truth of
the matter is living and working in a strange country comes with its own unique
set of challenges. The series shadows these modern day globetrotters as they are
pushed to the limit to work through the idiosyncrasies of pursuing their passion
beyond their country’s borders. In any language, chasing prospects is an
emotional experience. In Africa, the rewards are high – the question is do they
have what it takes to create a legacy in the world’s second-most-populous, ever
evolving continent.

“When the original doc aired we were flooded with
emails and phone calls. Viewers became emotionally connected to the stories and
were desperate to see more. That’s why we’re pleased to establish this
partnership with Samad Davis who sees the value of this type of programming,”
says Stafford Bailey.

“As an African American who has been working in and
out of 8 countries in Africa for the past 6 years, I have a strong appreciation
for its beauty, people, culture, history and opportunities there. Partnering
with Stafford and Judy Bailey to produce the series was a no-brainer. We aim to
change the station and counter punch some of the negative stereotypes people
have about Africa, while simultaneously inspiring and info-taining viewers
globally,” says Samad Davis.

“An overwhelming viewer favorite in the
original film was the home tours. It featured such properties as a 10,000 sq ft
house with a helipad that overlooked the Indian Ocean. Viewers will be pleased
to know that we will continue this segment with the series,” says Judy
Bailey.

Blacks Without Borders is the brainchild of Stafford and Judy
Bailey the founders of 20 Four 7 Productions. The duo has produced content for
ABC, CBS, NBC, HBO, Showtime, BET and TBS. Known for character driven story
telling, their productions are praised by critics and a must see for
viewers.

Samad Davis is CEO of Motion Picture Equity Fund, LLC, a film
and television production investment company and President/COO of Magna World
Partners, Inc., an international trade investment firm who’s mandate is
Africa.

Shooting begins this summer in six (6) African countries, US, UK
and the Caribbean.

The series will be licensed for broadcast in the US
and abroad. Also, made available as VOD along with Digital and DVD
distribution.
