Tell It Like It Is

True journalism has a responsibility to report the news. It abrogates its  duty if it deliberately ignores certain news because it might anger a particular party. Too often journalists omit the transgressions of a particular party because they are unable to find transgressions by the other party. If one party commits horrible transgressions, these deserve to be exposed. It is not a bias to expose such . For example, if the Republican party commits transgressions against blacks, it is the duty of the NAACP  to call them out on it by name. Many organisations are afraid to call out Republican transgressions for fear of being accused of partisanship. This gives the Republicans immunity to proliferate their transgressions.

Many of our most  admired leaders and advocates of our civil, women’s, workers’ and privacy rights, have made a glaring omission. They want to appear politically non-partisan regardless of what the Republican Party does. What a mistake! It is a noble stand in general but not at the expense of truth. It’s time to tell it like it is.

The Republican Party under the tutelage of the 1% has fought an unending battle against:

  • civil rights
  • workers’ rights
  • women’s rights
  • civil liberties
  •  attempts to obtain justice for innocent  victims of police brutality
  • unions
  • environmental protection laws
  • voting rights - illegal voter purges, to anti-voting voter ID restrictions, placing too few voting machines in black areas, forcing voters to wait in line for as long as 8 hours .
  • living wage

Even some media, that I respect highly, seem reluctant to print or even allow criticisms about  such factual information. These are facts and responsible journalism should let the facts speak for themselves. I am getting sick and tired of these failures in journalism.
