Perhaps Jamaicans are ignorant of the real history of and the real Democratic Party. Here is an introduction of facts the democrats have successfully hidden from Jamaicans and surprisingly which Arican Americans now consider unimportant. Or is it because the so-called immigrant leaders, Irwin Clare, Una Clarke and others are afflicted with the psychological syndrome shown by patients who love pain?1. Southern Democrats collectively opposed the 13th Amendment to end slavery.2. Southern Democrats collectively opposed the 14th Amendment to give blacks citizenship.3. Southern Democrats collectively opposed the 15th Amendment to give blacks the right to vote.4. Southern Democrats debated against the passage of the 1964 Civil Right Act.5. Southern Democrats debated against the passage of 1965 Voting Rights Act.6. One Democrat who openly admitted that he was a KKK leader, Robert Byrd who is still in office, led the filibuster to stop civil rights.7. After losing on the political front the Democrats switched tactics to oppress by dependency. This tactic worked well on the Indian reservations. If you can make people dependent on you, through welfare, they will always vote for you.8. More recently Democrats opposed school choice opportunity scholarships that would help African American children get out of failing schools.NOW WHAT IS THE REASON FOR JAMAICA'S INEXPLICABLE SUPPORT FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF THE USA??This is a question that needs serious examination to uncover any existing factual basis for the "democraticpartization" of Jamaicans and to see if there is an explanation for our twisted method of making choices and seeking affiliations. Is she proud of the exploits of the Ku Klux Klan? Evidence should be a vital piece of information that affects decision-making as a part of the process of chosing affiliations, but do Jamaicans care about evidence? We shall see.Let us go to the evidence not bias and emotional rationalizing. In reviewing the historical and contemporary evidence the Republican Party seems to have an unassailable and clear lead over the Democratic Party in legislative actions that has benefitted Jamaica. In addition, a comparison of both Republican and Dempcratic parties and their historical impact on African Americans offers no rational clue as to why most African Americans are Democrats; none.EXPOSING THE HIDDEN FACTS; THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS NO FRIEND OF JAMAICA!In spite of the prevailing perception, the Democratic party of the USA is not friendly towards Jamaica and those Jamaicans who were exulting are simply the product of media brainwashing, ignorance or both. Let us list some most important issues that affected and still affects the Caribbean and the economies there.1. The amnesty and immigration act of the 1980s.This was an act which was supported and pushed by Republican Ronald Reagan and signed into law by him.In 1986, Congress passed the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) giving amnesty — legal forgiveness- nto all illegal aliens who had successfully evaded ustice for four years or more or were illegally working in agriculture. As a result, 2.8 million illegal aliens were admitted as legal immigrants to the United States. THE HELMS BURTON ACTTo be truthful this legislation has Republican origins but it was initially opposed but finally supported and signed into law by Democratic president Bill Clinton after Cuban pilots shot down two airplanes belonging to an American group. This act directly impacts negatively on expansion plans of Jamaican hotelliers seeking nvestments in Cuba. 4. Which is better for the Caribbean, a Democrat or Republican president? The United States objected, charging that these quotas discriminated against bananas grown in the Central American "dollar zone" by U.S. multinational companies. Instead of complying, the EU made superficial adjustments to its banana regime, in effect mocking the WTO dispute settlement process. The EU resisted the ruling because banana production in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific were not competitive with "dollar zone" production. Moreover, the EU argued that the 1975 Lome Convention entitled it to aid signatory countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific--primarily former British and French colonies--for which banana production generates up to 70 percent of total export earnings and up to a third of all jobs. According to the European Commission, however, these countries accounted for less than a third of the 3.9 million metric tons of bananas annuallyconsumed in Europe; Latin America accounted for over two-thirds. It was the southern democrats who were the majority slaveholders and so it proves like Jamaica, as some say African Americans love their bondage and are still part of one large modern slave plantation- they returned to their slave massas en masse when they offered them gifts and charity in Roosevelt's New Deal!!7. THE SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS DESTABILIZED THE AFRICAN AMERICAN ECONOMYThe information on how southern Democrats destroyed several thriving African American towns, has been hidden for decades. Stunningly this has never been discussed in media the way the Iraq war has been. Two incidents come to mind; Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rosewood, Florida, where decades ago Democratic mobs chased, killed African Americans and burned to the ground thriving African American business communities.8. OVER 3000 KNOWN LYNCHINGS OF AFRICAN AMERICANSOf course most if not all of these lynchings were done by Democrats of the south, the last one in 1960! Incidentally, many of the participants at these lynchings are still alive today and recognizable in easily accessible photographs and makes one wonder why they are not being prosecuted! If that is so do the African Americans value a Esau mess of pottage over their freedom? Is freedom so cheap in their eyes? They need to examine these questions seriously. 10. THE SHOCKING VOTING RESULTS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS LEGISLATION OF THE 1960S.One often hears the argument that the reason why African Americans are all Democrats is because the Democrats passed civil rights legislation. Yes that's right, in the 1860s and the US Supreme Court Democratic in majority, invalidated it.12. Republican President Nixon supported and signed the Affirmative Action legislation which benefitted African Americans and Jamaicans tremendously and get this. The Democrats like Byrd opposed it!13. THE RACIST DEMOCRATIC SPINNING BRAINWASHING MACHINEONE question seeks an answer. Against the evidence presented so far why do the African Americans and Hispanics support the Democratic party considering the devilish tyrannical history it is so proud of? Some claim that both parties have reversed poles with the Republicans taking on a racist mantra similar to the 1865 Democrats. There are several problems with this position though.Strangely, I was never taught in my two semesters of US history that the Democratic Party was historically racist and anti Civil Rights. The Democratic Party has a shocking racist history but this is not taught anywhere even though it is an acknowledged part of American history. When I challenged a noted history professor in California about this he huffed and puffed going off on a tangent about polarity reversal syndromes of both parties. Even if this was true how could compare today's racism with mass rapes, lynchings, complete burnings of thriving African American towns, Ku Klux Klanisms, no colored admitted signs and subjugation?Secondly, it is incorrect to try and subtly say that the Democrats of 1865 were the only racist democrats. In fact their overt racist tendencies continued for decades and as far as I am concerned they still exist today! Even in the Democrtic party's nomination elections the nation saw prominent African Americans Andrew Young, Robert Johnson and Congressman Rangels shockingly taking sides against African American Barack Obama and in the case of Johnson making comments insinuating Obama was taking drugs when the Clintons were contributing to the African American community when African Americans shamefully know that when Clinton was govenor of Arkansas, untold tons of cocaine was illegally imported into African American neighborhoods via Mena, Arkansas and he as govenor, has yet to tell what he did to stop it.! This is another version of the House Negro versus the Field Negro episode. I wonder what the Republican Frederick Douglas is doing in his grave?Thirdly, the facts are that the actions of Republican presidents in signing recent legislation that contributed immeasurably to African Americans, Hispanics and immigrants refutes the commonly accepted notion that the republican party is now racist and the democrats are not.THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SHOULD FACE A MASSIVE LAWSUIT FOR VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT!The Republican Party's 15th Amendment: On this day in 1870, after passing in the House of Representatives with 98% Republican support and 97% Democrat opposition, the Republican Party's 15th Amendment was ratified by the states.
