Rage -redux

Rage -redux

Rodney c//12

Jimmy can't read and Jane is pregnant,
books are lost and cracked
Politicians debate the cost of living,
Another dies, pained lives -lost along the divide.

damn.

Several dreams deferred, tuition too high.
More drop out, teachers burned out, stranded in time
Academics struggle, publish while they perish.
Words in print, grants in hand, more repetition from the womb

this crazed band.

Doors closed shut no keys in sight.
No Hope, just hate fills the night
Education a sham, mediocrity runs high.
Debates drag on, storm clouds are neigh.

lost in

Neighbors, suburban kind, gated and shut
imprisoned souls lost in time
Both black and white, yellow, red and tan
comfortably forgotten behind the rhyme

the maze man

Lies, distrust, despair, and rage
fill the tube, our life's stage.
love forgotten, trapped and misbegotten
Denial, obfuscation, redundancies .

forgot the ways

Glass ceilings, job segregation, resurgence of racism,
Women rapped jogging, parents on vacation.
Would be preachers, of every color, whipping flocks into order.
once caring neighbors now slumber in foreign cars

of survival

When struggles reduced to ideological postures,
when oppression an excuse for grant offers,
when pain justifies another publication.
suffering prostituted for another's' rage.
