By using this new sales channel, businesses can better target customers with a partner focused on being the preferred destination for African American shoppers. Started in Austin, Texas, PurchaseBlack.com offers an extremely well built marketplace enabling businesses to expand their online presence while minimizing their costs to do so.

The new start-up is like an online shopping mall that will focus on products of interest to African Americans & people who seek a diverse product experience. The company allows multiple businesses to sell their products directly on its site through "webstores" each business independently operates. The company is designed to make products from Black owned and non-Black owned, yet Black servicing, businesses more easily found and patronized online. Products from Black owned businesses will have a label, making it easy for customers to buy black.

"Its never been so easy to buy Black!" says Brian Williams, founder of Purchase Black LLC.

After studying for his MBA at The University of Texas McCombs school of business, Williams decided to take his new knowledge and apply it towards improving the African American business community. "I want to use what I have learned to be an asset to the community economically, and to create a real, sustainable business that meets a critical market need" he says. "The McCombs school of business gave me the tools to explore Black business success and corporate social responsibility. Based on research I've done during my MBA, I've developed a vision to not only make the Black community better, but also businesses that care about Black customers as well"

African American's are projected to have over $1.1 trillion in buying power by 2015, according to a report from Nielson. Within this climate, market research firm Forrester projects online retail sales in the United States to grow at 10% annually, reaching $370 billion in 2017. PurchaseBlack.com enables Black owned and servicing businesses to be better positioned in the massive ecommerce sector with African American online customers. "Many times, African Americans desire a different product experience than what is commonly available. Many Black customers also want the opportunity to patronize Black businesses. PurchaseBlack.com has created a way to easily do both!"

Products from categories such as hair care, skin care, artwork, clothing, accessories, gifts, decorations, and more will be available through the website. Several businesses have already committed and are poised to offer products targeted at Black customers through this new sales channel in addition to their normal sales methods.
