At the Democratic presidential debate, Kamla Harris was declared the winner and moved up in the polls. She pulled an old chestnut, bussing, out of the fire to discredit frontrunner Joe Biden. Although she moved up in the polls, so too did Donald Trump. Why?
When Trump launched his racist attack on the four non-white congress members, his poll numbers went up and substantially. The fact is the more Trump exhibits his racism, the more Republicans love him. He will ride that racism to victory in 2020. Let us not forget that Trump won every white demographic group, including college-educated white women, in the last election. He will use racism again to do it again. Of course, most of these voters will not admit to racism, but will find some pretexts such as fiscal conservatism or states’ rights. Some might not even hide as racism is becoming respectable in America these days.
I did not watch the debate and it went as I feared. It was a showcase to exhibit differences between Democrats at a time when they need to showcase unity. The Harris/Biden dispute played right into those racist Republican hands. So the winner of the debate was not Kamla Harris, but Donald Trump. That is why Trumps ratings went up and at the next debate his ratings will go up again. The subjects discussed at these debates are politically irrelevant to the voters. Make no mistake, the coming elections will be decided and won on Trump’s white racism. I shudder to think what his next term will be like.
Comments
As for the presidential debate, I thought that it was pretty ordinary. Kamala got a lot of media coverage because what she said was exciting, but it did not advance our knowledge very much. The candidates all said what they had been saying for the past several weeks. No surprises. I hope that the next debate will be more substantial.
I found that State of the Union article to be absurd, ridiculous, misleading, and having nothing to do with the topic that is being presented here. If you want to bash Kamala Harris, go elsewhere.
See this State of the Union article on Kamala Harris:

I find State of the Union articles to be accurate.
