Following the 3rd Edition of the King Amachree the XI Scholarship Scheme, Prince Tonye Princewill, a PDP Chieftain and the scion of the Kalabari Kingdom has released the sum of  N20 million for disbursement for the annual King Amachree XI Scholarship Scheme for the 2012 session.

A press statement by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze stated that the third edition “covers a new intake of an additional 100 students selected from the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State. This brings the current number of recipients to in excess of 200”.

Lady Mina Omunguye, who is the Coordinator of the Princewill Trust Fund sponsors of the annual King Amachree xi Scholarship Fund while collecting the cheque thanked the Prince for his effort targeted at assisting the youths to acquire education and become better citizens of the world

She stated that the formal disbursement for the 2012 Scholarship Scheme will be organized in the ancient city of Buguma, Headquarters of the Kalabarri Kingdom on the 30th of June, 2012.

On a different issue, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka noted that “although we don’t want to join issues with some misguided charlatans by giving them underserved publicity, we have observed recent attempts by some sinking politicians threatened by the high rising profile of the Prince of Niger Delta Politics who have engaged some unprincipled and greedy youths from the defunct Action Congress in Rivers State to malign the impeccable image of the Prince thinking that by so doing they will gain political relevance in the State and bring him down. PPA wish to state unequivocally that one Norisia (Nourishment) Pepple who is going about claiming that he was a former PPA Youth Leader was never a member of PPA, let alone its former Youth Leader. This mischievous character whose major goal in politics is extortion was the Youth Leader of the defunct AC in Rivers State where his ravenousness greed was the reason he never became our PPA youth leader and why he was sacked as the Head of the Ministry of Urban Development Task Force in 2008.

The PPA spokesman noted that general public can assess and attest to the vision of the Prince and judge if any politician in Rivers State outside of government has affected the lives of their people more. His words: “He (Princewill) has this year alone committed a whopping sum of over N500M towards one activity or the other from changing the lives of our women in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State through donating to the Micro-Finance Agency in the State, training of youths, providing scholarships, organizing the first ever TV Reality Show for orphans amongst other interventions too numerous to mention just to prove that we too can assist the government, even if we have never had a political office, just to make our country better. Those we have not reached need not worry. Eventually we will get to you.

It would be recalled that the Scholarship Scheme was set up a few years ago by King Prof T.J.T. Princewill and his son Prince Tonye Princewill to assist indigent students from Rivers State in Higher Institutions across the country.
