American democracy is dead. It has become a one-party state, the Democratic Party. The Republican Party has degenerated unto a cult, the cult of Trump. This is a powerful cult which demands total obedience to its evil disreputable leader regardless of what he does. In his own words, “𝙄 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙙𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣'𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙊𝙆?" I can imagine him saying, “𝙄𝙄 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙎 𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙅𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙮 6, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙚, 𝙊𝙆.”

A party has members. A cult has followers. They follow the cult leader blindly even if he has ninety-one felony charges against him.

Republican officials have to join the cult or they will end up like Liz Chaney. It is no accident that so many prominent Republicans have retired recently. The Trump cult has captured the Republican Party and it is so sad that so many non-cult Republicans vote for the cult. There is even grave danger that a majority of Americans could vote for the cult. The Democratic Party is far from perfect, but it is not a cult. Regardless of party, don’t let a cult capture America!
