OBAMA VICTORY - AN EYE OPENER?

by Baaba Len Burg ~

Many of us breathe a sigh of relief at Obama's victory. It's a
temporary win for the forces of unity and diversity, and a blow to the
ideologies of class-ism and racism.

Even with this triumph, however, it's not surprising that 48% of
Americans saw fit to vote for Romney, who rode a wave of anti-black,
anti-female, ant-aged, anti-gay, etc. negativity.

The irony is that he - himself - is more of a smiling classist than an
overt racist; but like a chameleon, he shucked and jived and
wiggled-waffled in tune with whatever position he thought would win
him support; he miscalculated - banking on the supposition that there
were enough rednecks, racists, classists, wanna-be rich and elitists
who would buy his pitch that by supporting him they could join or
solidify their position in the 1%.

It reminds me of the post American Civil War "Reconstruction" period.
Many freed slaves were elected to office, bought land, set up
businesses, etc. But for the defeated slave owners and enthusiasts,
the freed blacks of yesteryear were seen as "uppity niggers"; just
like the defeated conservative progeny see Obama today. Similarly,
Obama's initial election to the presidency symbolized a victory
towards "freedom" to blacks, while to the prejudiced it reeked of a
threat that the Obama's of the world would multiply and breed more
uppity "others".

So the rallying cry for Romney and his enablers became, "we must take
back our country", which was of course code language for put those
"others" - uppity blacks, Latinos, immigrants, gays, non-Christians,
and women, etc. - back in their place. And just as
post-reconstruction gave birth to a wave of anti-black oppression,
segregation, lynching?s, Klu Klux Klan, etc., the initial post Obama
election gave birth to a virulent backlash of anti-black and
anti-"other" hatred which reared its ugly face throughout Obama's
first term, and during the recent re-election campaign.

To his credit, Obama didn't take the bait; he didn't drink the
Kool-Aid; he remained the ultimate statesman; he preached unity, not
partisanship; and he spoke truth, not spin.

But alas, we realize that for all his attributes, Obama is still a
politician subject to pressure from the very forces which spent
billions to try to keep him out of office. He's not a saint; he's not
the Second Coming of Jesus; he's a man.

We live in a time on the planet which the mystics characterize as the
"Iron Age", when humanity reaches its depths of depravity. Even as
we who consider ourselves conscious strive to be part of the solution,
not the problem, it behooves us to realize that we must do so with
spiritual consciousness; we need Divine Revelation to help guide our
proactive efforts to make this a better world.

Fortunately, the Most High eternally radiates the inner light -
symbolized by the Egyptian sun God Ra - in all of us, sinners and
saints, just as the physical sun shines on the righteous and the
wicked alike. But to imbibe this light we must open up our 'Single' or
'Third' eye.

In Kamit this 'orifice' was mystically symbolic of the 'Eye of Horus'
- the all seeing eye. Macro-cosmically it represented the six senses
but esoterically it symbolized the shutting down of those senses and
the opening of the mystical Third Eye - the doorway (guarded by the
Sphinxes) to the beyond, where the Most High, like the hotel chain
"Motel 6," awaits us, saying, "We'll Keep the light on for you".
