"Great Idea! I hope that I never have to have it. Like life insurance - better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it." Kevin Colts, Dallas, TX

"I Just Got Stopped" (IJGS), a new mobile app available on iPhone and Android, offers the average civilian a reliable way to ensure proper procedure is followed when stopped by the police. Developed by Dallas tech firm Southtech Digital, the app was designed to bridge the gap between the police and the community by using the latest mobile technology to hold police officers accountable during traffic stops, while also providing civilians with useful information and tips on how to properly and safely conduct oneself when confronted by law enforcement officers.

“For most people, especially African-Americans and Hispanics, a routine police stop can be an unnerving experience,” says Tony Gauthier, CEO and Co-Founder of IJGS Holdings, LLC. “When a civilian is stopped both the civilian and the police have certain rights and responsibilities. Civilians are required to obey lawful orders, and the police must ensure that the tactics and methods they use are lawful. Failure to follow law enforcement’s instructions by civilians, or unreasonable use of force by the police is what often leads to innocent people getting hurt or in some cases killed. IJGS was designed to help hold both sides accountable with the intent of rebuilding trust and respect between the police and the community,” says Gauthier.

IJGS will audio and/or video record a user’s police encounter, and immediately notify up to 5 emergency contacts with GPS location. Should the stop take longer than expected, the app will automatically notify the user’s attorney with the last known location. All of this information is saved to the phone and immediately and securely uploaded to the cloud for later retrieval should the phone get confiscated or destroyed.
