NATIONAL BLACK SURVIVAL COMMEMORATIVEJOURNAL TO BE INDEPENDENTLY PUBLISHEDBy The Newport NewserviceSOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VIRGINIANOVEMBER 18, 2008 – UBUS Communications Systems, the 33 year old independent publishing company, with offices in Virginia and North Carolina, announce the publication of a Commemorative Journal to “celebrate” the survival of Black people in North America. The NBSCJ is openly asking Black people all over the world to submit their stories regarding the “Black Experience” during 400 years of chattel slavery, second-class citizenship and other forms of oppression.Though the publication is going to be independently published, every Black man, woman and child can submit their story; or the story of an ancestor or loved one who cannot tell their own story.The deadline for submissions is December 25, 20008. With the publication date targeted for the energy celebrating the Inaugural of the Barack Obama, January 20, 2008. Contributors are to send their writings to the Publisher typed and double spaced, if possible. If possible The First Edition will be available at the Thurgood Marshall Center, where Black people who are “doing something” will be showcasing what they are doing on Sunday and Monday.The manuscript will be evaluated by some of the editors and staff persons who have been instrumental in the publishing of more than 600 different book titles in Black America since 1973.The writer is asked to keep his or her story to 1000 words but is not restricted by lengths or content. If possible a fee of $50.00 is also asked to be sent; if you are over 1000 words you will be asked to send more cash or edit your statement. As an independent Publisher, UBUS has never received a penny in loans or grants to publish the 600 books that have been “by for or about Black People.'
