The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt Area 11 ,Command, Onne, says it has achieved a landmark feat in its fiscal operations, signaling a new era of economic prosperity and administrative efficiency as the command generated over N77B in April 2026, alone.

This was contained in a press release issued, signed and made available by the Command's Ag. Public Relations Officer Paul Istifanus Gimba, an Assistant Superintendent of Customs I on Tuesday, May 5,2026 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state Capital.

The statement hinted that under the strategic and visionary leadership of Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed Alkali, the command has successfully generated a staggering amount of ₦77,325,318,984.07 in the month of April 2026 alone.

The statement described the monumental achievement as representing a 70.2% increase compared to the revenue collected during the same period in April 2025 insisting the figure stood as the highest revenue ever generated in the history of the command, setting a high-water mark for Port operations across the zone.

The unprecedented success recorded by the Onne Command according to the statement was not an isolated event but a direct result of deliberate alignment with the broader policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. Ph.D with the national framework anchored on two pivotal pillars of Innovation and Trade Facilitation.

On Innovation, the command has integrated modern technologies and cutting-edge logistics management, consolidating and strengthening existing protocols and building upon previous successes to create a sustainable economic environment.

The statement emphasized that, "by embracing these principles, the Port Harcourt II Area Command has transformed into a critical hub for national revenue optimization, ensuring that the federal government’s fiscal goals are not only met but consistently surpassed."

It also added that the core pillars of success under Comptroller Alkali since assuming leadership, was the implementation of a rigorous operational strategy designed to maximize the Command’s potentials and commitment centered on core areas of Simplification and Trade Facilitation.

The statement further posited that in an effort to foster a business-friendly environment, the Command has focused heavily on the simplification of procedures by identifying and removing bureaucratic bottlenecks noting that the Command has significantly reduced delays in cargo clearance, insisting that such streamlined approach has not only benefited importers and exporters but also accelerated the "ease of doing business" within the maritime sector.

On the Performance and Target Optimization, the Command has moved beyond mere compliance to a culture of excellence and by building on past successes, the administration has ensured that revenue targets were viewed as minimum benchmarks rather than ultimate goals.

The statement noted that, "the record-breaking ₦77.3 billion generated in April is a testament to this proactive stance on revenue collection."

It also stated that behind the record-breaking revenue generation lies a workforce characterized by dedication and professionalism as Comptroller Alkali, lauded the officers and men of the Port Harcourt II Area Command for their commitment to duty even as the Onne Customs boss emphasized that the achievement of April 2026 was a collective victory, made possible by the integrity and discipline of the personnel stationed at Onne.

He stated that their ability to balance security concerns with the need for rapid trade facilitation remained the cornerstone of the Command’s operational philosophy.

"The achievement of ₦77.3 billion in a single month serves as a clear indicator that the Port Harcourt II Area Command is a vital engine for Nigeria's economic growth."
" As the Command looks forward, it remains dedicated to breaking new records, refining its processes, and contributing significantly to the nation’s treasury."

The statement concluded "Under the guidance of Comptroller Alkali and the overarching vision of the Comptroller-General, the Nigeria Customs Service at Onne is poised to remain a beacon of efficiency, transparency, and economic impact."
