American Holocaust

One of the main defenses Germans made in their defense of allowing the atrocities committed by Hitler against the Jews is ignorance. “We did not know…..”. Well right now America is committing atrocities worldwide and most Americans know but do not seem to care.

War crimes are being committed without war. It is a war crime for a country to deliberately kill hundreds or thousands of innocent civilians to overcome the enemy.  America is killing thousands of innocent men, women and children all over the world by economic sanctions. In Venezuela alone, US sanctions killed over 40,000 innocent men, women and children in less than a year. The prime victims of US sanctions other than Venezuela are Nicaragua and Iran. But even a greater killer than sanctions is embargo and the US has imposed an embargo on Cuba for 60 years. The UN General Assembly voted against this embargo by 184 to 2 vote!

Of course the US tries to justify these sanctions, but there is no justification of these horrible killings of innocent people, these war crimes. Basically in all of these cases, the US wants to topple the governments, whether elected or not.  The obvious rationale is that if the US kills enough of their citizens, the governments will fall

One of the worst actions by Trump was to ban remittances to Cuba. Remittances are the money that the family of Cubans in America send back to Cuba. This action forced over 400 Western Union offices in Cuba to close. These remittances are the third source of vital hard currency. They amount to more than US$3 billion  per year. This is not unique as similarly, Jamaica receives about US2.5 billion per year, Dominican Republic about almost US$7 billion. These remittances to Cuba fund spending on essentials, lower extreme poverty and support healthcare and education. But, the ban reduced them to zilch.

Recently, the Cubans protested the harsh conditions in their homeland. After the malignant presidency of Trump, I had high hopes for Biden.  But alas, the Biden response dashed all hopes of any morality in this American foreign policy.  Obviously, the havoc created by the embargo, the loss of remittances, increased sanctions by his predecessor Donald Trump and the Covid  19 pandemic, presented Biden with an opportunity to kill even more Cubans. So, he increased the sanctions.

This America foreign policy is trying to turn these countries into death camps. How many millions more must die all over the world in this American holocaust? Where is the moral outrage by our fellow Americans? As the duo of War and Pierce sing in their concert for Playing For Change, “American silence is a crime”.  I am so ashamed. I am so ashamed.
