Bring the Million Father March 2008 to Your City!

Illinois Congressman Danny K. Davis and men supporting the Million Father March welcome students back to Williams School on the first day. In 2008, men across America will lead their children, their families, their communities and their country back to school. Education in America has become an issue of national security. When American schools do not do well, the American economy does not do well. The whole country must recommit itself to educating all our children. We are asking all Americans to make the first day a school a national holiday. Fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandparents, other relatives and friends of all ethnicities and faith backgrounds should be at a school on the first day to encourage children to get a good education. Education in the Black community has become more important than a matter of national security. It is a matter of our survival as a viable people. Black Americans should make the first day of school this year a day of absence from jobs, social, recreational and other events that are not directly related to educating children, educating families and rebuilding our communities. All Black Americans should be at an elementary, high school or college on the first day encouraging Black children, and other children, to do well in school. Last year aproximately 400,000 men in 238 cities participated in the Million Father March 2007. This year we expect about 600,000 men in 300 cities to participate.
