[Action Alert] FCC Votes On Free Internet Access

Greetings Family,(Contact Information At Bottom Of Page)It's your friendly neighborhood "Digital Drummer" again (smile)As an online social activist, I'm always encouraging my readers...To Do Something!!! Take action, be bout it...not talk it. In this highly charged election season, many have forgotten the purpose of electing a public official...To represent You!Do you know Obama or McCain's position on Municipal Wi-Fi??? Do you know your own Representative/Senator's??? (see ** Municipal Wi-Fi And You) Affordable, ubiquitous, Internet access, is one of the issues that are currently in front of Congress and the FCC. On June 12, 2008 the FCC will be voting on a new "FREE" national Wi-Fi network. For the sake of your children, for the sake of your people, for the sake of your own pocketbook...you need to take action now. The Bush administration promised universal affordable access to broadband technology by 2007. Well 2007 has come and gone.Last September, the FCC issued a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) to invite feedback and comment from the public on the best use of the 2155-2175 MHz spectrum band. In plain English...now that the nation has gone digital, the old airwaves can be used for something else, and they want to know your opinion. For years now, I have been advocating free and unfretted access to the Internet (see ** The Whiteness of Wi-Fi). We have all seen the power of the Internet, whether we're talking about commerce or civic empowerment. Imagine the benefits to having free universal access to the Net. Think of it...how many new products and services; how many new markets; how many new sources of revenue would be created, developed, and discovered. It's time for us as a Black community to unite, and demand that our politicians represent our issues...grant us the tools we need, to do for ourselves. Please contact the FCC (www.fcc.gov) by following this link, http://capwiz.com/freebroadbandnow/issues/alert/?alertid=10038926 and taking the appropriate action. You can also join a coalition of national organizations in calling for the FCC to make sure that Americans have access to free broadband services at http://www.m2znetworks.com/. Help make technology an issue in current politics by contacting your local representative (city, state, and federal); your local media (print, radio, TV); your neighbors, friends and family; and tell them your position on Municipal Wi-Fi and why they should support it.Remember, We Must Share The Knowledge (Network)...To Share The Dollars!!!** Google my byline - Jim Neusom***************(Advertisement)*********************Need some great ideas for corporate or personal gift-giving?Then go to City Lights Software(http://www.citylightssoftware.com )and see some of the most unique afrocentric gifts available online! We Deliver ONLINE - Direct To Your Desktop for just $14.95Please take the time to purchase one our afrocentric screen savers TODAY!Don't Just Talk the Talk...Let Your Dollars Walk the WalkIf you have any problems with purchasing online contact me direct at sales@citylightssoftware.com or call (213) 944-4176*****************************************************This Online Journal was brought to you by InterServe Networks.
