Today instead the US has performed the greatest nationalization in the history of humanity. By nationalizing Fannie and Freddie the US has increased its public assets by almost $6 trillion and has increased its public debt/liabilities by another $6 trillion. The US has also turned itself into the largest government-owned hedge fund in the world: by injecting a likely $200 billion of capital into Fannie and Freddie and taking on almost $6 trillion of liabilities of such GSEs the US has also undertaken the biggest and most levered LBO (“leveraged buy-out”) in human history that has a debt to equity ratio of 30 ($6,000 billion of debt against $200 billion of equity). So now Comrades Bush, Paulson and Bernanke (as originally nicknamed by Willem Buiter) have now turned the USA into the USSRA (the United Socialist State Republic of America). Socialism is indeed alive and well in America; but this is socialism for the rich, the well connected and Wall Street. It’s almost like we’ve been magically transported to the Bizzaro World in the old Superman comics where up is down, insanity is the norm and sanity is a crime. The ruling elites have totally altered the psychological, socio-economic and political landscape of AmeriKKKKa. In just a few short years the plutocrats have accelerated the shift towards a fascist surveillance police state that promotes the primacy of the rich, war and the lamest okey-doke imaginable. In order to accomplish this the ruling elites have relied on their media mind control apparatus to dumb down, distract and divert our attention from the truth and what is really going on in our communities and world. For example the Bu$h administration which called itself the government of fiscal responsibility and national security has brought this country to the brink of insolvency, ruin and an overexpanded the warfare state. The oligarches and their stooges have succeeded in stretching the US military to the breaking point while at the same time manipulating AmeriKKKa into a posture of permanent war. This cannot go on indefinitely, sooner or later something is going to givePolitically the major corporatist parties have fielded candidates who cavalierly speak of war as if it’s no big thing, whose warmongering will undoubtedly enrich the military industrial complex and the war machine. All of them drank the NeoCon’s 9-11 Kool-Aid, swallowed the blue pill and subscribe to the long discredited government narrative of what happened on that fateful day in 2001. Obama wants to increase military spending and equipment and even talks about going into Pakistan after Osama bin-Laden the bogey man created by the US intelligence services who has long been dead. McCain the senile warmonger whose major claim to fame is he was a Vietnam era POW, is Bu$h-Cheney on steroids. Joe Biden the Democratic VP candidate, has not seen a US military intervention he has not supported. And Palin the trailer park white girl Governor of Alaska is being touted as a younger version of Margaret Thatcher the warmongering fascist Prime Minister of Britain during the ‘80's. In this environment Peace (with a capital P) doesn’t stand a chance.Politically we have “history” in the making during this election cycle. The Democratic nominee for President Barack Obama is a man of African descent. Recalcitrant racism and fear on the part of many whites dampens Obama’s chances of being elected. On the Republican side McCain nominated a woman as Vice President, the first woman in that party’s history. The addition of Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket gives whites the excuse they need to vote for a pathetic nothing like John McCain. Meanwhile the Green Party topped them both by selecting two women of conscience and color Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente as their president and vice presidential candidates.With all the media hoopla about Hillery Rodham Clinton a white woman who ran for president during the primaries as a Democratic and McCain picking Sarah Palin as his running mate, you would think the media would be bonkers over the Green Party candidates McKinney and Clemente, two women of color whose Green Party platform is the exact opposite of the corporatist major parties. But since neither of them are white they are and will continue to be totally ignored by the corporate opinion molders. Their color and their consciousness make them persona non grata for the corporate media. McKinney and Clemente are pro-peace, anti-fascism and pro social safety net in stark contrast to the warmongers and imperialists heading the tickets of the two major parties. So naturally the US “mainstream” media ignores them.The US corporate media is designed to provide disinformation and lies to the masses. Its’ agenda is to distract us from substantive issues and focus on banality and pablum. So naturally we will see no real analysis of the recent nationalization of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae by the US government in our newspapers or electronic media. I guess they are saying, “that’s white folks business.” No mention is made of the US government engaging in socialism for the rich and corporate welfare in the Negro press. The white corporate media gives the owner’s spin so it is touted as a good thing. Not! This bailout is a harbinger of things to come. It will not save Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac both of whom have been decimated by fraud and mismanagement. Every day we hear of another bank on the verge of going under. The Democratic candidates remain silent on this issue and the unscrupulous Republicans are so committed to keeping Sarah Palin sequestered from the media they can’t focus on anything else other then their stale talking points.The media is also spinning the recent developments in the Caucasus as Russian aggression when the facts clearly indicate Georgia initiated the war and committed major war crimes in the process. But because Saakashvili is a US puppet, the mind control apparatus is spinning it to make the Russians look like the bad guys. Just as 9-11 was used to launch a bogus global war on terror, this situation will justify the warmongers resurrecting and ramping up the “Cold War” against Russia. Now both major parties hypocrites that they are, are talking tough rattling their sabers at Russia; using fear to garner votes. But the truth is, AmeriKKKa is in no position to back up its talk. If they can’t beat rag tag Iraqi or Afghani freedom fighters, what chance to they have against the Russians, who have missiles and nuclear warheads to go with them? Russia of 2008 is not the Russia under Boris Yeltsin. Putin is not going to back down from the US and its NATO allies. Europe just may find out this winter how determined Russia is if and when Putin shuts off the natural gas and oil. Meanwhile Georgia foolishness is setting the stage for even more brinkmanship on the parts of Russia, the US and its allies.We are living in interesting times. We are being manipulated for more war, perpetual wars which will ultimately lead to AmeriKKKa’s total bankruptcy and devolution to “third world” status. Don’t fall for the corporate media okey-doke.
