Orlando Patterson, Ph.D., O.D., is the renowned Harvard’s Cowles professor of sociology, one of Jamaica’s, the Caribbean’s and Africa's foremost sons, and international intellectual and literary icon. He is a graduate of Kingston College, the University of the West Indies and London School of Economics. Dr. Patterson will be speaking on "Institutions, Culture and Economic Performance in Jamaica: A Comparison with Barbados.” He is the author of the Caribbean Classic, The Children of Sisyphus and most recently, the Cultural Matrix: Understanding Black Youth.
