We can't really say what future impact his election, and two terms of office, will have, in terms of the psychological effects. Just the fact that children are growing up in a world where there has been a Black President will have a huge effect.
His main, most major accomplishment - apart from getting elected - has been the introduction of Obamacare. Millions of Americans who had no access to healthcare before now have some. This will benefit people for generations to come.
Check out this video of Obama stating "I have no more campaigns to run" and then adding this jibe at the Republicans, "I know because I won both of them"
