There are countless more Fergusons coming.

There are countless more Eric Garners to come.

The fault and the blame does not lie "in our stars", in society nor ourselves.
Fault and blame does not create a context for being empowered.

However, African Americans could telling the Truth - "To thine ownself be True...".
African Americans could begin uncover the dreaded "Elephant in the room" - our room.

Time for African Americans to get our head out where the sun don't shine and face the Truth, the Elephant In Our Room.

What are some unspoken Truths that underlies African American relationships?

What's the Elephant In The Room?

What are African Americans not seeing, not speaking about and not hearing that if addressed could significantly and effectively impact Fergusons and Eric Garners?

What could African American children count on their parents to be responsible for, in a "dangerous" world?

  • We need to tell the truth about the racist system and about our own internalised racist beliefs and attitudes towards ourselves and each other.

We also need to tell the truth about the need for economic empowerment of Black communities.

Of course there are more incidents coming, especially since unlawful convictions are being overturned more and more.  We need solutions that work

IMHO the biggest elephant in our room is our lack of spirituality and connection with the Creator of heaven and earth. This condition could be the result of having been immersed too long in this godless white European religious culture which values profit above people. Or it could be due to our hearts becoming so calloused that we can no longer feel the pain we inflict on one another and on our Creator. Someone somewhere said our hearts must be "circumcised" or spiritually super sensitive to know right and wrong.

As a people, we will not make any advancement unless and until we address this elephant in the room - our relationship with the One who created all things. Man, black or white or red or yellow has no solutions for the enormous global problems facing all life on this planet. No institution, no religion, no politician or world leader is capable of leading mankind out of this dense spiritual darkness we are currently immersed in. So, what other alternative is there?

Are we ready for some "divine intervention" or will we continue to look to men for the solutions we so desperately need? To me, this is the biggest elephant in the room. What do you think family?

    Shalom.
