I feel as we as Black people have taken Ancestorial worship down to the level of the jesus save mi mentality. Which is pimping the Ancestors once again. The wisdom and knowledge has been here for centuries. Blacks has done little to nothing with it. STOP and get serious, do something!
Some people have used this knowledge and wisdom. Many people used it for survival during the time of enslavement. They may or may not have known the source of this ancient wisdom.
We need to move out of survival mode as a people, and start to thrive.

I am shocked at your statement. Those who call on the ancestors for guidance and help are HONORING them, not pimping them. Saying their names keeps their spirit alive.
The point is the ancestors have done their job. Will you and I add to what they have done? Will we keep moving forward or keep "standing on the graves of the dead?
The ancestors will ALWAYS be our ancestors. They help us rise to a higher plane to move civilization forward according to the laws of MAAT. We stand on their shoulders to benefit from their knowledge and wisdom in the spirit of Sankofa. It is up to us to take what they have given us to fulfill our destiny.
We need to keep forward, based on the wisdom of the ancestors. I agree with you, Dr. Kinaya. The ancestors work is ongoing, as is ours. And one day, we will be ancestors, too.
And in addition to gaining wisdom and guidance from the ancestors, we can give them energy.
Its not what you say its What you do. A few days ago, I was in was it Cape Coast, Ghana. I when to EL mina dungeon to get a feel of the Ancestors that were shipped off to Europe, West indies and the Americas. I heard their cry. Why are Afrikan people sitting on their ass, when the European, Chinese ,people from the middle east and whites from America are taking the land, resources, the the minds of Afrikans on the continent and in the world, while you pretend to be connected with Afrika's Ancestors. Celebrating Kwanzaa and Black history month are nothing but useless reminders that we have something to do with Afrika. We sit on our hands, and close our mind to what is going on in Afrika. A week ago I did a video address to 500 Black men group on why come to Afrika. They don't KNOW ? I felt like I was begging them to come. Why? We hardly visit Afrika. We don't invest in Afrika. Some of you don't even like Afrikan people or our traditions. Ours mind are that of the white man. thats who you count on for guidance. What programs or meetings have you attended lately concerning Afrika. Our children in Afrika have serious needs . In 9 or 10 years , the population of Afrika will pass that of the chinese. There is great opportunity in Afrika, much more than here in the states. Yet who wants to go live. I've seen Brothers and sisters here talk, talk, talk. If you respected the Ancestors Do the the things our Ancestors told us to do. You calling Beyonce some kind of heroine because she twisted her ass, sung a song and wore a Black Panther gear. Chairman Fred would turn over in his grave. Today the masses know nothing of a true revolutionary, nor what it is to be a true Brotha or sistah of Afrika. read books has help you. I need books in Ghana. We have no libraries. Give mi your books , and they will inspire. Imitating Afrikan dance haven't transformed you. Afrikan Amerikans have been lost in this wilderness for a long time. You can't recognize truth. The Brother is 100 + correct., with the statement, today we PIMP our past, our kulture, and our future.
I applaud your passion but it is misdirected. Slamming our practices and attempts to reconnect with Afrika is not helpful. People make statements using their skills and talents in their arenas. That's what Beyonce did. Don't make more of it than it is. Your statements don't reflect an understanding of the effect of global racism. African Americans are struggling to regain our footing just as you are (i.e. post traumatic slave syndrome). By name calling and assigning blame, you are part of the problem, not the solution. If you are a continental Afrikan, I suggest you connect with African American activists from the Black Power Movement who actually traveled to Africa and help with the liberation struggles there when African countries were fighting for independence. Right now, there are more Africa Americans who are discovering their African roots than ever (My lineage has been traced back to the Bamileke people in Cameroon). Let's articulate greater understanding of each other's challenges and recognize the fact that we are all struggling in a hostile environment. Peace.
I give thank for your suggests. But I've been in the fight for 50 years. live in Ghana. Have family there. I been involved with fighting for Afrikan cause and still standing. You haven't a clue of what you are talking about. Thats one of our greatest problem today. I was born in America and repatriated to Ghana. Proud Black Nationalist and Pan Afrikan. I Followed the teachings of Marcus Garvey. Malcolm X, Chairman Fred, Amos Wilson Marimba Ani, Kwame Nkrumah and many others. I didn't talk stuff, I did stuff. I didn't just read their teaching/knowledge, I Lived and experience it. When I first when to afrika, it wasn't anything like I was told. Most Afrikan Americans haven't a clue what Afrika is about. I can tell by your words. Lets keep it REAL. Mi An Elder. Very happy. Life is GOOD.You talk about respecting our ancestors and don't respect an Elders in this world. You should be asking mi for permission to speak to just as I ask my Elders. You been to Cameroon. Meet your family there? You learning an Afrikan language? I don't live in a hostile environment. My land is coastal. Beautiful. I know all those around mi. Here in america is different. If it takes name calling to wake you. Yes I will do it. And if it take getting in your face for you to see some true , I will do it. I'm a revolutionary. We act and live our knowledge. If I can go to Afrika , reunite with I people, buy land , accepted into a family, teach and educate, live our tradition , any Black person that is real can. Beyonce and Jz picture are all over Ghana. Promoting America. Not Black Liberation. So spare me the useless chatter. As I say from the beginning, Talk, talk , talk. No action. You can't talk, sing or dance your way to FREEDOM. Thank you.
