Racism... depends. If you don't want to see it you can live your life in a such a way that you don't "FEEL" it. Feel being the operative word since it shapes your life regardless of whether you choose to see it or not. Even whites know that institutional racism exists. And if a person wants to do nothing about racism then yes it is very helpful to simply not see it. This leaves their conscience clear.
Now for those who choose to see racism... which are often those who choose to fight it, you can see it all the time. Why? Because most of the bullets tend to fly around the front lines of a war. If you are in the back you're a lot less likely to get hit... or hit anybody yourself. If you are involved in very pro-black forums or content, especially where there can be anonymous comments (looking at you, youtube) the racism is impossible to miss because white racists are drawn to the conflict themselves as a means of venting their hatred, jealousy, and other issues. There was a facebook page set up to make fun of a picture of an obese (fat) black girl. The page was created for whites, attracted the most overtly racists and even some of the covert racists who hide it in "jokes". But yeah... this by no means a post-racial society. Most whites in a professional environment aren't going to reveal how they think about "your kind" to you. Most whites are afraid of what will happen if people know they are racists.
Racism is a game played between whites and blacks to the detriment of the blacks The blacks don't like the game but they have no choice. They must play it. The whites like it because it reminds them of slavery. The cure to racism is for the blacks to organize themselves into a force whereby they will or can manage the game through their Africanity. But Kwasi Akyampong loves racism because although he can help organize his people, he prefers to write about his people and racism will continue as long as we are disorganized and imprisoned.
Didn't KWASI create the"black"listpub?
How much do we or should we expect one person to do? Just asking.
