You are absolutely correct. We MUST practice and we must teach our children to practice the principles of Kwanzaa everyday. That is why I leave my altar up until after February and have artifacts on display year round. Disciplining children should be based on the principles of Kwanzaa.
Great. I am glad you do that. I don't think it's about discipline, though, it's more about communication, i.e. understanding each other.
How do you celebrate Kwanzaa with your children?
We must teach and promulgate the principles of Kwanzaa with our children using a number of strategies. Discipline is one strategy. Discipline does not have to be (and should not be) harsh but should explain to children the rationale for acceptable and unacceptable behavior. It is a matter of being consistent. I have been doing this since 1970. My children are now successful conscious adults and I'm now guiding my grandchildren.
The principles of Kwanzaa are intended to be observed every day, although the celebration is only for seven days.
