WHY WE MUST CONTROL THE EDUCATION OF OUR CHILDREN
Envisioning and Achieving Excellence
A New Mind School Education Conference
Saturday 19th April 2014
3 pm – 7.30 pm
The Edutainment Palace

The UK, in 2013, ranked less than 20th in international tests taken by 15-year olds in maths, reading and science: BBC News 3rd December 2013
With such being the case and black children from lower income groups continuing to be under-represented among those making academic progress but increasingly represented in the Criminal Justice System, this conference advocates a paradigm shift in educational thought and practice.
The conference will draw together organisations and individuals with works and programmes, sung and unsung, sharing their methodologies, practices and educational thought in the following areas:
Morality and Education, Academic Performance, Special Educational Needs, Computer Programming, Holistic Schooling for 5-18 year olds, Home Schooling, Modern Foreign Languages and Nature-Centred Learning
Target Audience:
§ Teachers and School Governors
§ Parents
§ Social Workers
§ Tutors and Educationalists
§ Young people aspiring to work with children and young people
Speakers, Presentations and Workshops
Ending God’s vacation from the classroom
Hilary Muhammad, UK Representative of the Honourable Minister Louis Farrakhan and motivational speaker delivers an unapologetic keynote lecture on the ramifications of the lack of spiritual teaching in schools and the uniqueness of today’s youth as the essential component of a new educational system.
A tried and tested formula for academic success
A Consultant and Board Member for the Excellence in Education Program, Professor Chris Imafidon gives the critical “do’s” and “don’t's” for ensuring high academic performance. Sky News dubbed his family as “Britain’s brainiest”
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) – Stress removal for the whole family / Special Educational Needs
Researcher and parent, Kevin Jemmott, has performed an in-depth comparative study of Literacy and Dyslexia. He advocates a visual technique of learning that he testifies will effect a leap in children’s reading ability in a matter of weeks.
Instilling the qualities of a diamond in our children - A Programme 5-18 year olds.
Kay Johnston, an SEN and Literacy consultant works with schools and FE colleges to drive up standards of attainment through curriculum innovation and personalised learning. Following an extraordinary “bout” with the Department for Education to establish a free school - her Diamond Project is a “must see and hear”
Coding - Developing the right muscles!
Odartei Muhammad has taught computer education through a framework entitled COFI (Coding Orientation For Innovation). The science of programming a computer, he argues, is not only a analytical vocation but one that can draw greatly on a child’s creative genius - every child should be given the opportunity to code.
At home and doing better than ever before!
Justin Muhammad decided to home-school his children, disillusioned with their state school results and their own sense of self-purpose. The resources required to do such, he argues, start first with a “can do” mind-set of parents, not money, nor resources.
Bringing knowledge together for a profound learning experience
From the mid-90s to present, Astehmari Batekun has developed wholistic and nature-centred learning programmes from a Pan African perspective. Head of the Schools Of Unified Learning (SOUL), he delivers workshops and courses to children, parents and teachers, building the capacity to learn, inspire and educate others.
