Why Should Black People vote Labour?

Lambeth Cllr, Florence Nosegbe's recent urging of Black people to vote Labour, in a rashid%20nix.pngwell known, "so-called" black newspaper that shall remain nameless, reminds me of the comedy western, Blazing Saddles, where Mongo, the man-mountain of low IQ, when offered his freedom after being tortured and brutalised by the Black sheriff, refuses to leave and bashfully concedes: “Mongo no go. Mongo stay with Sherrif Bart. Sherrif Bart first man ever whip Mongo. Mongo impressed. Have deep feelings for Sherrif Bart.” And with that, he stays. The first recorded case of Stockholm Syndrome.

Before readers start howling and launch a ‘Boycott Rashid’ campaign of my next film, I am not comparing the good councillor, to the humungous man-child who rides buffalos and wrestles horses. I have met Cllr Nosegbe on several occasions, and have to admit, she is one fine sister: intelligent, dignified, and very attractive. Personally, I like her. But politically, the experiences of the Black community in Labour controlled Lambeth, need highlighting.

Anyone familiar with Brixton — the heart of Lambeth — will have noticed a definite change in Black Britain’s most famous community. This is due, primarily, to massive social-engineering projects, that have disproportionately affected Black residents. Under Labour, the majority of gains "Brixtonites" made over the past thirty years have been systematically reversed. Against this backdrop, thousands of Black residents have been moved out; business’ are struggling, or have closed-down, while Black-owned wine bars and clubs have had their licences revoked. Is this Labour’s strategic plan?

Even the world-famous Rasta HQ, in nearby Oval — a row of four Victorian houses backing onto Kennington Park — was raided, vandalised by the police claiming they were looking for drugs and weapons, but found none, and then demolished on orders from the council, after being a well known cultural spot in south London since the 1970’s....CONTINUES...
