Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
Re: 1)General People's Assembly – Saturday, 09th February 2013, 5:30pm-9:30pm - Queen Mother Moore School; Clapham Methodist Church Hall, Nelson’s Row, London SW4 7JR.
2)National Black People's Day of Action; Saturday, March 2, 2013 (Details to follow).
We hope that you are well in mind body and spirit as you receive this letter.
Those of you who were at the last iNAPP General People's Assembly, 13th October 2013, will recall that the meeting was well attended and maintained a very positive spirit throughout. As was announced at the end of the meeting, the next assembly will be on the date captioned above and we hope that you and your family and friends will be attending.
You were no doubt pleased to learn, that the iNAPP bank account is now open (details below) and that a Youth Core is now formed and active, with a dynamic leadership team in place: Sis Afryea, Bro ShakaRa, Bro Eneka, and Sis Maskelah. Furthermore, having set ourselves a target of £1,000, we collected £1,011.86, thus comfortably raising the £700 needed, to set up the iNAPP website. We are pleased therefore to announce that the website is now up and running (details below).
The community reports from Sis Marcia Rigg (sister of 'Deaths in Custody' victim Sean Rigg), Sis Chinyere ??? (mother of a son seized by the state) and Eld Bro Emanuel Amevor (of Centerprise, whose building was being repossessed) served to emphasise the existing demands for a national, independent, representative body, mandated by Afrikan people in Britain to promote, preserve and protect their best interests. We contend that such a body would make it very difficult for the British state to abuse our people with such impunity; hence, the need for the NAPP.
We are pleased to inform you that on Saturday 26/01/2013, a very important Community leadership meeting was convened by iNAPP. The meeting addressed how we can organise nationally to engage officially with international bodies and processes, relevant to Afrikans in the UK. This included, 1) the African Union as its Diaspora and 6th region; 2) the upcoming 8th Pan-Afrikan Congress (8th PAC), December, 2013, in Azania, South Afrika and 3) the October 2012 visit of the 'United Nations Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent'; which was an indictment on the British government and its Race Relations. A report back on this very important meeting will be given at the General People's Assembly.
The General People's Assembly provides a forum for you to make your voice heard and get more actively involved in the NAPP building process. It also allows the Interim National Organising Committee (INOC) to be accountable, The People.
The main agenda for this assembly will be our preparation for this year's National Black Peoples Day of Action (NPBDA); which we (the Afrikan community) 'Named and Claimed' a national holiday and annual observance in March 2011. Please find enclosed: 1) the original NBPDA 'Mission Statement' (drafted Feb 2011); 2) NBPDA 'Aims and Objectives' (drafted Feb 2011); and 3) NAPP 'Concept and Aims' (drafted March 2011, amended Jan 2011). These short, 1 page documents reminds us of the original vision of the NBPDA: not only to remember the woeful events of 30yrs ago, but to evaluate our progress since; as well as organise in the present to correct our shortcomings and create a brighter and better future for our children and young people: the vision that gave birth to the NAPP.
One fundamental operational principle of the NAPP building process, is economic self-reliance, charging us to be self-funding. In context, it was agreed in previous assemblies that each person should contribute £10 and each organisation £50:00, to raise the £2,500 (minimum), needed to organise the event. Please make your contributions directly to: HSBC - Afrikan People's Charitable Fund - Acc No: 92650738; Sort Code: 40: 06:30, or alternatively, at the General Assembly. Please note that contributions are urgently needed.
We are also in need of volunteers to assist with security/stewarding. If you are able to, please contact NAPP admin on the above number or put your name forward at the General Assembly.
We thank you for taking the time to read this letter and attachments and for your ongoing interest/engagement. We look forward to seeing you soon, as we continue the work to build the NAPP.
