THE NOMMO SESSIONS
Nommo is the, monthly interactive session for the Afrikan community, presented by the Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement. On the last Friday of every month, you can rap, reason and re-energise with like-minded Sisters and Brothers through film, music and the spoken word in its many forms.
The next session.
The recent case against Nicky Jacobs for the murder of PC Blakelock was prosecuted on the most spurious pretext and he was rightly acquitted. Yet the families of Cherry Groce, Sean Rigg and Kingsley Burrell, supported by a mountain of evidence, still fight for their day in court, while countless other have seen their cases flounder in the mire of the UK’s (in)justice system. Add to this the Lawrence family spying scandal, gross over representation on the National DNA Database and the perverse “legal” killing of Mark Duggan (as part of the seemingly never ending cycle of deaths in custody), it becomes clear that we have little recourse to protection under the law. In fact the police, as the leading edge of the state apparatus (that includes the government, CPS, IPCC, etc.) act more like Her Majesty’s Criminals and Gangsters with a LICENCE TO KILL.
In this NOMMO, BRO. LDR. MBANDAKA will expose how different elements of the state provide cover for” legalised gangsterism.” More importantly he will outline what can be done to resist it, while addressing questions like:
Are the police above the law?
Was justice really served in the Nicky Jacobs case?
Who authorised the spying on the Lawrence family?
What strategy does the interim National Afrikan Peoples Parliament have for addressing the criminal justice system?
BRO. LDR. MBANDAKA is the Spiritual Leader of the Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement and has been a community activist and organiser of over 30 years standing. Bro. Ldr. is an in demand speaker In who is a frequent and popular guest on numerous community radio stations and a columnist in The Whirlwind newspaper. He is also author of the publications Education: An Afrikan-Centered Approach to Excellence and Mosiah Daily Affirmations. Bro. Ldr. Mbandaka is the Co-Chair of the interim National Afrikan Peoples Parliament.
