This presentation is largely an overview of Dr. Rashidi's most recent book UNCOVERING THE AFRICAN PAST: THE IVAN VAN SERTIMA PAPERS. It talks about who Ivan Van Sertima was and why he is important to us. It looks at the global African presence with a special focus on the African presence in the Olmec world in the ancient Americas. It is a moving tribute to a great man and a life fully lived. And, as with all of Dr. Rashidi's presentations, the photographs used will be both stunning and brilliant
This is one of Runoko Rashidi's favorite presentations. It looks at and pays tribute to great Black women in antiquity. It not only examines the role of the Black woman as goddess and mother of civilization; it brings these women to life right before our very eyes. It is a brilliant and much needed presentation and like all of Runoko's presentations it is magnificently illustrated. It looks at African women from Ahmose-Nefertari of Kmt to Ann Nzingha of Angola and Central Africa. It looks at the Kentakes of the ancient Sudan and Al-Kahina of Algeria, just to name a few.
