The battle seems hopeless, at times. But we remember David and Goliath and Selassie and Mussolini. We remember the words of His Imperial Majesty that: ‘with faith, courage and a just cause, even in the 21st century, David can still beat Goliath'.
We call upon all Ras - Tafarians and all people of faith and belief in truth and justice to unite in the cause of saving this Grand little piece of history- this beautiful Zion- this Pinnacle.
We have been working towards this since 2005 and the goal post keeps moving. ( below an attachment Letter from The JNHT dated Jan.19th, 2017.) objection sent out by Millennium Council. We Have a Heritage Site in Pinnacle that must be protected as part of Jamaica historical and cultural heritage.

WHY PINNACLE MUST BECOME A 'HERITAGE SITE '

Pinnacle is the highest height of Rastafarian cultural and history. it is also the aftermath of slavery and Emancipation of our Nation Culture (adjoining the Caymans Estate Sugar Plantation were slaves worked and died. They ran to the caves of Pinnacle in the 1700 and 1800 for shelter).
Pinnacle identify the land where the Rastafarian Movement founded (Ethiopian Salvation Society) and where the movement embodies the values of self-determination, self esteem, cooperative sufficiency, internal-economic empowerment, collective and united fraternal love in spirit, pride and integrity. ALSO KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY AND SELF.
1. Pinnacle has an outstanding universal value from the point of science and Rastafarian cultural and tradition.
2. Pinnacle contain the most important and significant natural habitats of biological and traditional settlements and it has geomorphology and physiographic features. Also knows as a spiritual community with ecological and biological feature such as caves and other historical areas of importance.
3. Pinnacle contains a superlative natural phenomena beauty and estheticimportance and the breath-taking view of 5 Parishes in the Island of Jamaica, among other universal features.
The Nation of Rastafarian (globally) have the same rights to a sacred site as other indigenous people, whose heritage is sacrosanct and who have been granted land that are linked to their rising rituals and historical roots.
There is a difference between Heritage Site and National Monument.
1. National Monuments are “historic landmarks, historic and prehistoric structures, and other objects of historic or scientific interest that are situated on land owned or controlled by the Government”. They are so designated by the Government.
2.A World Heritage site is a landmark or area which is selected by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as having cultural, historical, scientific or other form of significance, and is legally protected by international treaties. ... Sites are demarcated by UNESCO as protected zones.
3. Heritage Site “are generally large natural places having a wide variety of attributes, at times including significant historic assets.”A national heritage site is a heritage site having a value that has been registered by a governmental agency as being of national importance to the cultural heritage or history of that country.
History of national heritage
Each country has its own national heritage list and naming conventions. Sites can be added to a list, and are occasionally removed and even destroyed for economic or other reasons. The concept of protecting and taking pride in cultural heritage is something that goes back to the Seven Wonders of the World, but usually it is only after destruction, especially mass destruction in times of war, that new lists are drawn up or revisited. Many countries acknowledge under UNESCO their designation of objects considered to be worthy of having importance to the entire world or world heritage. These listings also acknowledge the need for a separate list of objects judged part of their own unique cultural heritage. The concept of a national heritage site can be split into many types, each type having its own unique list
The UNESCO keeps a list of heritage sites per country that are considered internationally important.[1] These sites are almost always also on the national heritage register of the site's country.

In response to Sis. Katherine Howell's declaration and Call for Support, we the Executive Directors of the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council (EADUMC) aka Rastafari Millennium Council, do hereby give a comprehensive update on the matters at hand in regards to the recent declaration of additional Lots to become 'National Heritage'. We therefore attached our Letter to the Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) as well as the Letter from the previous Public Defender - Mr. Earl Witter who had endorsed our call for Pinnacle to be declared 'Protected Heritage'. We go on record to quote what was stated in our Objection dd. February 22 2017:"We, the Executive Directors of the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council / Ltd. aka Rastafari Millennium Council (RMC), find it necessary to list an Objection to the declaration of the Pinnacle Heritage Site to be deemed a National Monument, but insisting it to be that of a ‘Protected National Heritage’ owned by the RasTafari Trust Fund (RTTF)."
Pinnacle lands
Of the eight (8) sites that will be declared by the JNHT, the Government is committed to the declaration and development of six lots on the Pinnacle lands in Sligoville, St. Catherine as a heritage site for the Rastafarian community. To date, Cabinet has approved the purchase of 5 lots -198 to 202 and negotiations will take place to execute the sale of these 5 lots at an agreed price. In the meantime, a JNHT team has conducted exploratory work on the 6th lot and the Board of the JNHT will be providing me with a report on the outcome of this work. I want to remind you that the part of this property that has already been declared a National Monument falls under the direct purview of the JNHT which means that it will be protected and preserved in accordance with the JNHT Act. UNESCO has officially recognized that the Rastafari community is indigenous to this country and it is fitting that we must all acknowledge this legacy which has produced a world renowned religion and iconic personalities such as Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. Therefore, my team at the Ministry is committed to expanding the acquisition of Pinnacle lands in Sligoville St. Catherine and prioritizing the establishment of a Rastafarian Heritage Site and Cultural Centre.
