Your help is needed to elect the most progressive mayor in the U.S.

Dear Sisters, Brothers, and Friends,

The Committee to Elect Wali "Diop" Rahman needs your help to elect the most progressive mayor in the U.S.

Wali "Diop" Rahman, also known as Diop Olugbala, is President of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM) and he is running for Mayor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Diop has a history of struggle in defense of the African community in various cities in the U.S. since his introduction to the Uhuru Movement in 2002.

Before joining the movement he graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in linguistics. He then worked as a union organizer and it was during that time in 2002 when he attended an InPDUM convention. He has been actively working in the cause of Black freedom ever since.

Diop fought against the brutal police murder of an 18 year old African in St. Petersburg, Florida named Javon Dawson in 2008. Also in 2008 he courageously led members of the Javon Dawson Justice Committee to a campaign event for, then presidental-candidate, Barack Obama that was held in St. Petersburg, Florida. He carried out what would later be called the "question heard around the world" when he unfolded a banner in the audience that read, "What about the Black Community?"

Diop moved to Philadephia and has continued his organizing efforts to fight for economic development for the African community and against the pessimistic public policy of surrounding the African community with more and more police.

He organized forums and events to challenge the closure of Philadelphia schools while at the same time the city is spending 1 billion dollars per year on courts, more police and jails.

The Committee to Elect Wali "Diop" Rahman Mayor of Philadelphia is calling on all who believe in justice and freedom to donate to the campaign!
