HUJAMBO (Greetings) Family:

Peace and blessings with much love during this season for African unity and development. The World African Diaspora Union (WADU) is inviting you to its 2011 Executive Session and community forum from January 22-23, 2011 for your input in the Decade for Development campaign. Also to effectively continue our work in 2011 and beyond, we are asking for your generous financial contributions as we commit our resources sacrificially in our noble campaign to reunify African Diaspora with Africa – culturally, politically and economically.

2011, marking the 111th anniversary of the first Pan African Congress is to continue building a powerful African Diaspora, to strengthen Africa. In 2010, WADU established that the African Diaspora needed have more pressure on the African Union to accept the African Diaspora as an integrated region of Africa. With the charge from our President, Baba Dudley Thompson and the encouragement of African Union Ambassador Dr. Salum Ali from our 2009 Summit, we decided to convene our 2010 Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – the Capitol of Africa and the home of the African Union. Because of your relentless support over the several years of our Pan African campaign with some of the best servants of African people, we were successful at the July 2010 Summit in pressuring the African Union to give the Diaspora more support. The recent meeting in October at the United Nations with AU ambassadors inviting Diaspora leaders to participate in a process that will lead to systematic dialogue, engagement and representation of the African Diaspora in the AU is a testament to WADU effectiveness as an organization. This year we continue to partner with more organizations to pressure the AU to support our Diaspora Declaration, give more support to Haiti and the Congo and promote Pan African economics.

Next month as we meet for our annual Executive Session, we will also celebrate the 94th birthday of our President, His Excellency Dr. Dudley Thompson. Baba Thompson is a “Living Legend” of the Pan African Movement and the only surviving member of the famous 5th Pan African Congress which led to the freedom of Black people all over the world. He was a former attorney for President Jomo Kenyatta, a former Foreign Minister of Jamaica (Michael Manley), advisor to President-elect MKO Abiola of Nigeria and was recognized by the African Union ((OAU) as an Eminent Elder of the Pan African Movement. In taking the leadership of in 2007, he told both Dr. Leonard Jeffries and Baba Elombe Brath that he was ready to serve until his last breath for Africa and African people. Since then he has traveled across the African world promoting the importance of WADU for African-African Diaspora unity and empowerment. As we move forward with the agenda for African ‘second liberation’ and renaissance, WADU needs you in leadership and service to boldly respond to our living legacy to reunite members of our scattered and marginalized family in the Diaspora with Africa.

We are very thankful for your work to advance African people and now seeking your generous financial contribution and your commitment to support WADU in its work to reunify African Diaspora with Africa. We hope to see you at our next Summit in July. Please make Checks or Money Order payable to WADU and contact us at 718-523-3312/WADUPAM.ORG.
