Baba SerSeshs Ab-Heter, Urban and Regional Planner with the Friends of the Forks of the Roads Society, Inc., to present the real story of the Forks of the Roads in Natchez, Miss at Jackson State University on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Historian Baba Ab-Heter will lecture to JSU history classes and community residents from 6-9pm about the second largest enslavement trading market in the deep south - in the "oldest city on the Mississippi River" - Natchez, Miss. Bringing forth the history of the Mississippi slave-trading industry, attendees will be treated to factual chronicles of the Center of Slavery in Natchez, the Overground Railroad trail that brought the enslaved Africans to Natchez, actual names of dealers and traffickers and speculators who profited from the dehumanization and humiliation of African enslavement and the Passage of Sorrow that made Franklin & Armfield and Ballard, Franklin & Co. millionaires from the African enslavement market.

Baba Ab-Heter is expected to fully detail the "Negro Marts" of Natchez and outline some of the routes of the Underground Railroad that lead to freedom for so many of the enslaved Africans. With documented proof, he will present specific overland routes used to bring enslaved Africans to Natchez and historical records of sales of the enslaved.
