We hope this note finds you well. We are sending this appeal in the hopes that you will help us seize a unique and strategic opportunity. We are launching a new initiative, called the Community Production Initiative, which is an effort to establish a Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory with 3D printing) and Maker Space in Jackson. Our success will make us the second Black owned and controlled Community Production unit in the United States. This means that we will be one of two urban Black communities that owns and controls this innovative and game changing means of production, which as we all know is rare in our history in these United States.

We think this initiative is critical to the Black Nation and to the Black Liberation Movement in the United States. If our people don’t get a leg up on this technology and democratize it, it threatens to further displace millions of our people from the ever-shrinking job market being produced by neo-liberal capitalism. So, this is not just an investment in Jackson and the fulfillment of an aspect of the Jackson-Kush Plan, it is an investment in our people as a whole.

So, we ask you to please make a strategic investment in this initiative. As you will read in the one pager, we are seeking to raise $600,000 by the end of the year. This may seem swift, but it is by no means impossible. As we note, if we can get just 200 people to contribute $1,000, either in gift capital or a small investment, we can easily raise $200,000 dollars or more.  We believe that based on the strength and strategic understanding of our movement, it should be possible to raise this entire amount by recruiting several hundred people to make strategic contributions. In order to do this, we are going to need all of you to help us recruit more contributors, be they individuals or organizations.
