Over 20,000 acres of wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, providing habitat for threatened and endangered species, are imperiled by a 1,263-acre mega-industrial development referred to as STAMP (Science, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park). The development is proposed for outside Buffalo, New York, and adjacent to the Tonawanda Seneca Nation Territory. Take a stand for indigenous communities, wildlife, and this important ecosystem by sending an email today.
NY Renews stands with indigenous nations and tribes throughout New York State as they seek to steward the lands and waters central to their way of life. Though the lands proposed for sacrifice might be far from where you are, we hope you will add your voice to ours as we say NO to this proposal.
The STAMP project is located in an ecologically sensitive and important rural part of New York, within a state-significant Raptor Winter Concentration Area, including open fields deemed “occupied habitat” for state-listed Endangered Short-Eared Owl and Threatened Northern Harrier. The project must be stopped.
Please write to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation demanding that they hold public hearings, require a full environmental impact statement for this project, and deny the permit requested by developers–which would green-light the destruction of 665 acres of wetlands and habitat occupied by Threatened and Endangered species.
We stand with and thank the Tonawanda Seneca Nation for their stewardship of this important land and the Western New York Environmental Alliance for its work to spread the word.
