Social Impact & Social Media:  Present and Future Trends

When: Tuesday, February 8, 2011 @ 6:30 PM
Where: New Work City, 412 Broadway, New York
RSVP: http://www.grassrootscamp.org/events/16199522/

Social Media week is coming up, so we're going to take a special look at what social media is doing for causes. We'll be hosting a panel discussion from three of the major organizations using digital tools to have a social impact; Change.org, Idealist.org and Jumo will talk about the about the current state of social impact tools in the digital space, and future holds for using social media to promote causes and social good. The panel will also discuss issues such as "slacktivism" and the digital divide that affect social media based activism.

Panelists:

  • Zachery Dominic, Change.org
  • Hannah Kane, Idealist
  • Kristin Resnansky, Jumo

We'll start a little earlier for this event than we usually do. The panel will kick off at 6:30pm or a little after that, so try and be on time or just a few minutes early. Since this is being held (again) at New Work City, please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early so as not to interrupt the people working in the space.

This is our first year participating in Social Media Week. Join us!

Charles Lenchner & Nate Heasley

PS: We're sending out more information about our big training event on Feb. 13. But here's the link, just in case:
