PEOPLE, NEW PANTHERS RALLY FOR SLAIN SETON HALL STUDENT
PEACE IN THE STREETS
On Friday, October 1st, there will be a major rally in honor of Jessica Moore, the 19 year old Seton Hall student slain last week. The rally will take place at the site of the incident
South Clinton Street and South Orange Avenue in East Orange. It is being
cohosted by the Peoples Organization for Progress, the Newark AntiViolence
Coalition, Enough Is Enough and the New Black Panther Party, among
others.
Moore was at a party where he assailant had been turned away. Tragically, he returned with a gun a fired into party. Moore was hit four times trying to protect a friend. She died later at
University Hospital. Four others were also wounded.
“She had to be a truly exceptional young woman,” said an angry Zayid Muhammad for the New Black Panther Party.
“This was a brazen act of self hate that took her life, but more than that, she heroically dared to face death to protect someone else.
“You can’t put a measure on a lost like that,” he finished.
Muhammad, a survivor of gun violence himself, also announced that the Party, along with the Newark AntiViolence Coalition was also responding to a shooting death near the home of Black Power
and Black Arts legend Amiri Baraka
and that So. 10th Street, the scene of the shooting, will be focus of
the Coalition’s weekly street rallies next Wednesday, October 6th at
6p.m…
