Homeless New Yorkers, like everyone else in this town, want to live in a safe city where police officers treat all residents equally and respectfully, and are not above the law.
NYPD accountability is the solution. And now, thanks to the hard work of PTH members and allies and tons of other excellent groups, we're close.
The New York City Council is expected to vote soon on two bills that are part of a landmark legislative package known as the
Community Safety Act. These two bills - the
End NYPD Discriminatory Profiling Bill (Intro 1080) and the
NYPD Oversight Act (Intro 1079) - are comprehensive and urgent reforms that will secure real change in discriminatory NYPD policies and practices.
All City Council members need to hear from constituents like you! We need them to vote to pass the bills when they come to the floor! ***Call your Council Member TODAY! ***
