Noche Diaz in Court Thursday, Fighting for Unjust Protest Charges to be Dropped Noche Diaz has been in court 8 times over the last 15 months, defending himself against arrests in August and November 2014, when he was involved in protests of the police killing of Michael Brown. Each time, the NYPD has thrown a list of typical protest misdemeanor charges on him, such as Obstructing Government Administration, resisting arrest, harassment, and disorderly conduct. His attorneys fought successfully to get some charges dropped, but others were added.
The office of the district attorney of Manhattan, Cyrus Vance Jr., has moved to "join" both arrests into one trial, a move defense opposed. Thursday, December 3, the court will hold a hearing on the defense motion to maintain separate trials, and against the state's contention that Noche has a pattern of illegal activity. More from
