AFRIMETRO TO HONOR CHIKA ONYEANI WITH THE PINNACLE AWARD

 Dr. Chika Onyeani, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the African Sun Times, will be honored with the PINNACLE AWARD by AfriMETRO, on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the KIMMEL CENTER, New York University, 60 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012, at 6-10 pm. 
According to AfriMETRO, "The AfriMETRO Pinnacle Award recognizes and honors a
person of African descent who has consistently attained distinguished
achievements in his/her field of endeavor while demonstrating an unflinching
commitment and outstanding contributions to the positive development of Africa
and Africans."

AfriMETRO is a New York state registered non‐profit organization. Founded in 2008, AfriMETRO’s mission is to build a new positive image of Africa and Africans by organizing
business, charitable and professional networking events that inform, educate,
empower, and celebrate Africa, friends of Africa and Africans. Since inception,
AfriMETRO has grown and attracted a dynamic array of professionals and has
become the premier professional networking organization for African
professionals and friends of Africa in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
metro areas. AfriMETRO’s membership consists of a broad spectrum of
professionals including prominent attorneys, doctors, engineers, accountants,
nurses, entrepreneurs and budding writers. This year has been a particularly
exciting year for AfriMETRO. It launched two new programs: a professional
development mentoring program and a scholarship program aimed at benefiting high
school seniors and college students of African descent who attend or will attend
accredited institutions of higher learning. It also hosted several successful
professional development events, partnered with several organizations and had
its members donate resourceful time and money to various charitable
organizations.

It will be recalled that Onyeani was honored with the SPIRIT OF AFRICA AWARD on September 12,
2010.

Onyeani's guests include Her Excellency Prof. Joy Ogwu, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations; Her Excellency Mrs. Amina Salum Ali, African
Union Ambassador to the United States, Washington, DC; the Hon. Mr. Ibrahim
Auwalu, Consul-General of Nigeria, New York; Ambassador Ousmane Moutari, former
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Niger to the United Nations; Chief
Dr. Annie B. Martin, President of the NAACP, New York Chapter, as well as
others.
