Yes, Muhammad Ali was an American hero. He was born in the United States and throughout his life remained an American citizen.
Ali stood up for the people in our society who have been marginalised and exploited, those who have beendenied a voice. For African Americans and African people everywhere, he is a great hero. He represented what are the TRUE American qualities of truth and justice, on which our country was supposedly founded.
There are elements of the United States - the powerful and the privileged, the white supremacists - who persecuted and killed those cited in the video. But they DO NOT represent all of America. Ali was a threat to the military-industrial complex. He was the enemy of white supremacy. But for millions of people, he was, and remains, an American hero.
Let us always remember these great heroes and sheroes - Ali, Harriet Tubman, Ida B. Wells, MLK and many more. They risked their lives, and some gave their lives, so that we can have freedom.
No he was never and never will be considered an American hero, America injustices to people of people of color around the world is what he spoke out about, therefore he became an enemy to the system of government he became the "People's Champion" inside the ring for his achievement and outside the ring for his compassion for the humanities of people, An American hero? no. an An American idol? perhaps. The People's Champion? yes. nuff said
