THE SLAVE IN YOUR MENTALITY (Chapter 4)

Many, perhaps most, of our ancestors were not zombies. They fought back. They were aware that slavery and inferiority had been forced upon them, and they continued to fight back in small ways and in big ways.

This video makes many excellent points. However, I would have liked to see more examples of the acceptance of inferiority, like the acceptance of ignorant music, rappers and images that disrespect our women in the same ways we were disrespected during slavery.

And the fact that we accept inferior schooling for our children, rather than demanding that the educational system be accountable.

African people in the Diaspora have been brainwashed for hundreds of years to believe that we are not Africans. Most of our people identify, not with the Europeans who enslaved our ancestors, but rather, with our own Black communities in which reside many people who carry European names. It is a shame that so many of our people have forgotten their true African identities. But I think it is important that we do not create further divisions.
