I was willing to listen to this until the word "lies" was mentioned. You were better off 4 years ago...OK, let's talk about 4 years ago. We were under the leadership of a man who allowed 9/11 to happen, during which we lost two iconic buildings in my home city; let an entire city get flooded; and broke not our only our national economy but the global economy. Now, you want me to get behind a guy who is peddling the same tired policies and deregulatory "I wanna be like my heroine Ayn Rand" philosophies that led to the disaster that was the Bush administration. Are you kidding me?
Four years ago, we were losing, LOSING, 800,000 jobs a month. Since Obama, we're gaining 100,000+ jobs a month. Yes, we are better off than we were 4 years ago. Even according to Michael Brown, the former head of FEMA under the Bush Administration, Obama moved TOO FAST in response to Hurricane Sandy. I don't know about you but I rather someone move too fast than too slow when I find myself in need. So, yes we are better off now than we were 4 years ago. Finally, these two goofball wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which Bush started based on lies and it cost us billions that our country and our people could have used to dig ourselves out of the 2008 financial crisis. Obama is ending those wars, so yeah, we will be better off than we were 4 years ago.
I could come up with a laundry list of how we are better off now than we were 4 years ago but instead let me leave you with this. For those of you Black people who have already voted for the GOP platform and for those of you who have contemplated doing so, let me ask you this:
Bush and the GOP were in charge from 2000 thru 2008. They had the chance to do what the immoral and inept Democratic Party wouldn't do. Ask yourself what did they do? They allowed 3,000 Americans to be killed on our soil by foreign enemies. They allowed the city of Katrina to be flooded. They ran up our national debt by prosecuting two wars and funding an entitlement program (Medicare) and refusing to pay for it. They crashed our national economy and the global economy. Look in that mirror and ask yourself that when the GOP ahd the keys to the kingdom, what did they do to make America, much less Black people, better off?
Now consider that your only alternative is a man who stands in front of a nation and tells bald-faced lies about an AMERICAN company's (Chrysler) expansion plans when it comes to China. He accuses them of doing the same thing that a company, by the name of Sensata (which he controls because he's a 51% shareholder), is actually GUILTY of doing (shipping jobs to China). If I told you nothing else other than this one simple, salient fact about the man, you would be remiss in voting for MITT ROMNEY.
I don't know who you Black people are that think somehow the GOP is the promised land, the nirvana, for all the unanswered hope and change that Black people have been seeking from the American political system but ask yourself this:
When has the GOP ever, EVER, seriously asked for your vote?
How are things working out for Herman Cain, Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, and Michael Steele?
If you want the Democratic Party to not take your vote for granted, what are you to prepared to do!?
A Black vote for the GOP is not a vote for change. It's giving consent to the GOP to slit your throat. Watch something besides Fox News. Crack open a book and learn some history about how the modern Democratic and Republican parties came about. Use your God-given wisdom, discernment, and common sense. The only thing this guy got right is that we get the leaders we deserve. We get the leaders we deserve because they are a direct reflection of how much or how little time and effort we spend on being intentional and purposeful in casting out votes.
