Barbadian riddim poet and cultural activist, Adisa “AJA” Andwele has “literally” brought the late Jackie Opel back to talk to the youth about the upsurge in violent crimes and murders in Barbados and across the Caribbean. AJA has sampled Jackie Opel’s ‘Live and Let Live’ song and fused it with one of his poems in an attempt to achieve this objective. Jackie’s voice is maintained throughout the track from the original song, which he recorded in Trinidad & Tobago with the Barbadian band, the Troubadours in 1969. AJA states that Jackie is the most powerful voice to emerge out of Barbados, and also played a major role in the development of the late great Bob Marley. Therefore, there’s no better voice to speak to the youth of the region. The track was release for the 48th anniversary of Jackie Opel’s death on Friday, March 9, 2018.
